2009 Season – Information You Need to Know
Time to Register
Applications and payment of fees are due on or before August 27, 2009.How To Register
Membership packages will be mailed prior to July 31st, 2009. You can register by mail, fax or by using the secure mailbox located on the front door of the Club on Cosburn Avenue. Forms of payment are cash, cheque, visa and mastercard. Cheques are made out to East York Curling Club.Due Date
If your application & payment has not been received by the due date, your requests for league play will be put in priority sequence by the date received by the Club. If the league is not full, you will get in upon approval.Full Membership
Once your application form is completed and approved, you will be considered a member and placed on a team. The number of weeks played in a season will be dependent upon events hosted at the Club, snow days and emergency closings. Members cannot transfer their membership to another individual.Teams of More Than 4
Should you choose to have more than 4 members on your team, all players must pay full membership fees applicable to the section.Formation of Teams
Any team of less than 4 players may be assigned a person on the waiting list. If the team does not want to take on any new player, they may be required to pay for a full 4 person team.Sunday Skins
If there is ice available & enough interest, a new Open Skins League will be formed. Teams of any combination and lineup would play approximately 5-10 games all season (i.e. once or twice a month). This would be available to those with the multiple league membership. Individuals are welcome to sign-up and we would try to find you a team. If you are interested please check off the box on the Application form on the bottom of the second page. Once registrations have been completed, a decision will be made and any interested party will be notified and given the opportunity to confirm their interest.Pro-rating Section Fees
Joining a league part-way through the season, will result in a pro-rated fee to be determined by the Management and Board.Bye or Rotation System
In the event that your chosen league is full, a bye or rotation system to an alternate night may occur. In a bye system, a team would not play a particular week depending upon the number of teams registered. In a rotation system, a team would be scheduled to play on another designated night in rotation during the season.Lockers
The lockers are equipped with their own locks and will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. Each member can only apply for ONE locker. A refundable deposit of $5.00 is included the locker fee and will be refunded upon the return of the lock. You may switch and return the lock to receive your deposit. You may obtain your locker at the Open House or later. Lockers can be obtained from the Office and the Bar.Office Information
As of August 18, 2009, the office will be open at various hours to accept registrations. Starting September 8th, 2009 regular office hours will be 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday. Evenings and weekends, the Staff on duty will be happy to assist you. To book a rental, practice ice or a make up game, you must call the office during regular hours.Withdrawals, Refunds, and Credits
All cancellations/withdrawals must be initiated, and followed in writing, prior to the third day of curling in their regularly scheduled league. No refunds or credits will be considered after this date. Consideration will be made for personal injury or re-location. Withdrawals will be pro-rated based on the date of withdrawal, not based on attendance in the program. A $25 administration fee will be deducted per person, per section for all refunds. Refund request must be submitted in writing and dated. Deliver your request in person to the curling club office. Refunds will only be applicable on the playing fee portion.Club Closure
Any Club closure will be posted on the East York Curling Club website indicating the reason for the closure. As well, attempts will be made when possible, to contact the Skip of each team affected by the closure. Leagues will follow up with their members to indicate how this cancelled game will be made up.Sparing in Sections
Only fully paid Members of any EYCC league will be allowed to spare. Please indicate on your application Form, the league you are willing to spare in and check off the box indicating whether or not you want to be put on a password protected location on the web site.Chit Policy
Do you want to charge chits for your bar tab? SIGN UP FORYOUR CHIT CARD starting at the OPEN HOUSE from the barstaff. This card will allow you the privilege of signing chits/tabs at our Club. Due to changing policies, you will no longer be allowed to charge chits at other Clubs.Membership in Good Standing Entitlements
- Playing in scheduled league games
- Booking practice ice, when available
- Sparing in other leagues
- Participation in all Club events
LEAGUE INFORMATION
Note: The information below is subject to change.
Men’s Leagues
Mondays at 8:15pm or Thursdays at 6:45pm & 9pm (on rotation)Monday is separate from Thursdays. Returning Monday teams & new Members will get preference into Monday League. Men may play both leagues under a multiple league fee.
Women’s League
Our Women’s League curl on Wednesday evenings at 7pm & 9pm on a rotation basis.Release stress with this evening of fun, friendship and exercise. It offers an environment where experienced curlers can take on skip or vice positions even if they have not played these positions before. We are seeking to expand this league and welcome new curlers.
Evening Mixed Leagues
Our Mixed Leagues curl Tuesdays at 6:45pm & 9:00pm, Fridays at 7:15pm and 9:15pm. & Sundays at 5pm.Each evening league is separate from the others. The Tuesday & Friday leagues play on a rotation basis. The Mixed League is ideal for couples to spend quality time together and for singles to meet new friends.
Golden Age Men League
Our Senior Men’s League curl on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10:00am.This league consists of disc draws. Each day of curling, the teams are created just prior to the start of the game.
Daytime Women League
Our Daytime Women’s League curl on Mondays at 1:00pm.Whether you’re a stay at home mom, a senior or a work-from-home entrepreneur, this is a wonderful way to meet new friends, exercise and have fun. Our Daytime Section provides babysitting services at a reasonable rate.
Daytime Mixed League
Our Daytime Mixed League curl on Wednesday afternoons at 1:30pm.This is a social league; lots of laughter & good friendships are formed.
Junior/Bantam Leagues
The age for the Junior Section is 16 to 21 and the Bantam Section is 11 to 16. These leagues curl on Sunday afternoons at 3:00pm.Little Rocks League
Little Rocks are for ages 6 to 11. They curl on Sunday at 1:30 pm. and helmets are required.Sunday Sinners League
Our Sunday Sinners league curl on Sunday mornings at 9:30am.This is an open format league. It is single entry.
Sunday Skins
A new skins league has been formed. To be eligible, you must register in a multiple league membership. They will curl Sundays at 11:30am.University of Toronto Curling Club
UTCC is affiliated with EYCC & helps students (experienced & new curlers) form teams. Members play in many EYCC leagues. UTCC organizes social events throughout the year, including an annual bonspiel in the fall. More information on UTCC can be found at: http://curling.sa.utoronto.caIntermediate Status
Students attending high school, college or university on a full-time basis, will receive a student rate. Student ID must be presented.Adult Learn To Curl Program
Our Adult Learn to Curl program is held in October of each season.It is a great way to learn the game of curling. Entry fees paid for the Adult Learn To Curl Program are transferable to any Membership League.
