My name is Glenn Gabriel and I am the Little Rocks Rep at East York Curling Club. Recently, I submitted an application on behalf of our Club to the Game On Toronto! grant fund.
Now we need your help!
Please visit the Game On Toronto! Web site and VOTE FOR OUR PROJECT. You’ll get to see the video we produced and details of the grant project, called “Stone’s Throw”.
In a nutshell: In 2015, we want to introduce curling to young people from 7-11 years old who belong to populations underrepresented in our sport, namely visible minorities, new immigrants and special needs / disabled youth. Another population we want to target is the Taylor-Massey neighbourhood, which is adjacent to our Club and is a City of Toronto Neighbourhood Improvement Area.
How to vote for us…
- Visit the Game On Toronto! Website and find our video – we’ve done the hard part for you, just click on this link: http://bit.ly/1CX4XdH.
- Read the project description and watch the video!
- Click on the “Vote” button on the upper right.
- You can either “login” with your Facebook account OR create a login account.
- Once you login, you should be able to click on the Vote button. It will say thank you for voting once you’re done.
Tell your friends to vote for us too! Forward this email, post a Facebook update or send a tweet. Every vote counts!
Remember: You can vote ONCE A DAY during the two-week voting period, which ends on November 5th.
A combination of online votes and a panel of judges reviewing our application will determine who receives grants. The results should be announced in January 2015.
Please support your Club and vote now!

PS: Thanks to our awesome Little Rocks (James, Angelina, Molly, Nate, Marek, Evan D and Dexter) for appearing in the video!
The team went 1-3 in their first games, but then went on to win their 5 remaining games to qualify for the 3-4 game in the playoffs. In the playoffs they defeated Slovakia 7-6 in a tightly contested game, scoring 2 in the 10th end for the victory. The silver medal game saw them defeat Ireland 7-3 in a game which saw Israel steal or blank the first 6 ends for a 4-0 lead.
Having earned a top 2 finish, this team, along with Belgium, the gold medal winners, will play in the European Curling Championships B-Group in Champery, Switzerland November 22nd to 29th. The teams in that event include: France, Finland, Hungary, Netherlands, Estonia, Poland, Wales, England, Turkey, Austria, Spain, Croatia, Lithuania and Romania.
Good luck Yuval and team!
