Little Rocks Registration Age Change for 2018-2019 Season

Please read the following if you are planning to register your child into the 2018-19 Little Rocks season at East York Curling Club.

Starting with the 2018-19 season, we are raising the minimum age of our Little Rocks program to 7 years old.

This change means that children who want to enrol in our Little Rocks program must be 7 years old on the start date of our program, which (for the 2018-19 season) is Sunday, October 14, 2018. No exceptions.

Nothing has changed regarding the maximum age. As stated in the previous registration FAQ:

If your child is 12 years old at the start of the LR season, you must register for the Junior (U21) program. If your child is 11 and turns 12 before January 1st, 2018, you must also register for the Junior program. However, if your child is 11 and turns 12 on January 1st or afterwards, you may apply to the Little Rocks program.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me (Coach Glenn) at the email address below.

Thanks in advance for your understanding,

Coach Glenn Gabriel

Game On! Little Rocks Bonspiel Report (Sat Jan 6/18)

On Saturday, January 6th, East York Curling Club hosted the sixth annual Game On! Little Rocks Bonspiel. Although the temperatures were in the -20C range, we had a full draw of 12 teams. Almost 50 kids represented 10 different clubs from across the Greater Toronto Area, including two teams from our own club!

Thanks to the donors who made our raffle a great success!
And thanks to the many parents and friends of our Little Rocks program who donated items for our raffle!

Team Wrightson from Paris CC (L to R: Ryan, Eric, Adelle, Kara)

Congratulations to our winning team, Team Wrightson from Paris Curling Club! And congratulations to Team Leonienco from Sutton and Team Radia from Richmond Hill who placed 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

Lastly, I want to thank the people whose support made this event a success:
  • Club Manager Carolyn Fleming & Club Administrator Brittany Shulist for their pre-event support
  • East York Staff Kevin, Joe, Angelo & Jodi for their help on bonspiel day
  • Alice & Grace, two amazing volunteer parents who helped organize the prizes, raffle table and donations
  • Chef Mike Maddin
  • Our photographer, Cameron Ballantyne-Smith.
  • Our graphic designer, Sharon Gough, who created our flyer.
  • All of the volunteers who helped us at the bonspiel, both off and on the ice. Events like this are impossible to put together without their help.

We strive to make our bonspiel better, year after year. If you have any comments, suggestions or feedback, please feel free to share it with us.

Once again, thank you for being a part of the 2018 Game On! Bonspiel. We hope to see you next year! Tentative date: Saturday, January 5, 2019.
