Practice and Makeup Ice

The 2011/2012 season schedule of ice times available for practice or make-up games for members is being determined. The tentative schedule is listed below.

The times listed are subject to rentals. Ice must be booked through the Office Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm.

Make-up games will bump any practice sheets.

Make-up games are 2 hours blocks, practice sheets are 1 hour blocks & up to 4 people per sheet depending on demand.

Have you ever wanted to be on TV? – updated

Update October 19 – The list of volunteers is now full. Thank you for your interest!

This is your opportunity!

On Saturday October 22nd, 2011 the Club will be the location for a TV commercial for President’s Choice.

The Film Company is looking for Volunteer Curlers.

16 Children in the Ages of 8 to 12 years
8 Teenagers
32 Adults Mix of Men & Women
16 Retirees Mix of Men & Women

If you are seen on camera, you would need to sign a waiver and would be financially compensated through ACTRA the talent union.

The required times will be provided once established. The event runs from 7am to 9pm.

Everyone will be fed.

Deadline for Signing Up is October 20th, 2011.

Good luck to Team Shepherd (Michael Shepherd, Matthew Shepherd, Mike Bichan and Ryan Gillen), Team Johnson (Shawnessy Johnson, Christine Loube, Heather Marshall and Pam MacCrostie), and Vicki Marianchuk in the Ontario Curling Tour Barrie Sleeman Cash Spiel.

Team Shepherd plays in our Thursday Mens curling league and will be representing the club at the Dominion Curling Club Championships which start October 21st.

In the meantime, they are 2 and 1, and playing in the B draw this evening. Follow the results here: OCT 2011 Barrie Sleeman Cash Spiel

As well, the players on Team Johnson as well as Vicki Marianchuk are playing in the Women’s Event at the OCT Barrie Sleeman Cash Spiel, which will be starting on Saturday. All five players play in East York leagues.

Another curling season is upon us! Welcome back!

Schedules have been posted for the following evening leagues: Monday Men, Tuesday Mixed, Thursday Men, Friday Mixed and Sunday Open.

Please note that there are still a few spots available for individuals to join the Friday Mixed league, as well as a for 1 full team in the Sunday Open league (any combination of men and women). Please contact Bela at mixedleague@eastyorkcurling.ca or openleague@eastyorkcurling.ca if you are interested in joining.

DIRECTIONS

TTC from Downtown

  • Take BLOOR subway eastbound to Broadview Station.
  • Board the 87 Cosburn bus and ride for approx. 20 min.
  • After the bus crosses Woodbine, the club is at the 2nd stop on the right. The bus stops directly in front of the club.

TTC from Scarborough

  • Take the BLOOR subway westbound to Main Station.
  • Board the 87 Cosburn bus and ride for approx. 5 min.
  • The bus stops directly in front of the club.

By Car

  • Follow Danforth Ave. to Woodbine Ave.
  • Turn north on Woodbine and travel to Cosburn.
  • Turn right on Cosburn Ave and travel 2 blocks.
  • The club and the parking lot are on the right side.
